MTL!!!

Wow, so I haven’t blogged in quite some time, eh? I’ve been living in Montreal since the end of August and absolutely loving it here. My lovely lady (Carly) and I, live above a Porn Theatre on St. Laurent appropriately called Cinema L’amour. The interior of it apparently, has been virtually unchanged since it was a Vaudeville theatre in 1914. The view from my balcony lets me see the old projection booth made of red clay bricks stilted on rusted, yet seemingly sturdy steel beams. One might think of it as a shady apartment, but it’s quite the contrary. Great heat, attentive landlord, a rooftop that is reminiscent of one Mary Poppins may be seen prancing about upon and an amazing neighbourhood that makes fresh meat, pizza and all dollar store accessories readily accessible.

I’ve been working ‘real’ jobs, or trying to, since I’ve been here. Gotta make sure my electricity stays on!!! The first ‘real’ job (and to date the only job I’ve ever had other than a musician) I worked, was in the noble trade of Telemarketing. Though I quickly found out that it’s an insult to call them telemarketers. They prefer the term Telesales Representatives. Also, once you’ve taken the 8 floor rickety elevator ride to the barren cubicle field, you will NOT be in a call center. I’d share the pitch that I used to sell’ uh’ errr’ ummm’ I mean ‘Send off’ First Aid Stations, but the dramatic effect (and possibly the comedic value) wouldn’t be nearly the same without hearing it from me. I must say, I would be misrepresenting the place if I didn’t say that the people there were very kind to me and sincerely interested in our music.

Anyways! Now I’m looking for a job once again. Due to a scattered playing schedule, I was ‘let go’ because they are in need someone more reliable, and, understandably so.

So now I’m goin’ out to jam with a few friends. Bri Salmena and Duncan Hay Jennings. (My childhood best friend) We’re gonna get a Chris Brown and Kate Fenner song down called Margaret. Find it on their Geronimo record.
